Your adventure begins in Maun, where you will board a light aircraft for a scenic transfer to Camp Savuti, located in the Chobe National Park's renowned Savuti Marsh area. This area is celebrated as one of Africa’s premier predator hotspots, characterized by the erratic flow of the Savuti Channel. After settling into your luxurious Meru tent, which offers stunning views of the channel, you'll embark on your first afternoon game drive. This drive takes you straight into the heart of the marsh, where you’ll begin searching for the high concentrations of plains game and the famous predators that patrol the area.
Today is dedicated to exploring the wild beauty of the Savuti Marsh. Your morning game drive will focus on tracking the region’s powerful predators—including lions and spotted hyenas—and observing the massive herds of elephants for which Savuti is famous. The Savuti Channel, flowing again since 2010, is a major draw for wildlife, and your afternoon drive will likely follow its course, offering excellent opportunities for photography and witnessing the incredible drama of the African bush unfold.
Enjoy a final full day exploring the Savuti's unique ecosystem. The morning activity may involve visiting the ancient San rock paintings at the Gubatsa Hills, a significant cultural site, or a dedicated session of birdwatching, as the area is rich with both permanent and migratory species. The afternoon is spent on a final game drive, focusing on any notable sightings reported in the area or simply relaxing at the camp, observing the steady stream of wildlife coming to drink at the channel, before enjoying a farewell dinner under the vast African sky.
After a final breakfast at Camp Savuti, you will take a light aircraft transfer deeper into the Okavango Delta to Delta Camp. This area focuses on a peaceful, non-motorized safari experience. Upon arrival, you will meet your private guide—a local Motswana—who will be your companion for your Delta exploration. The main activity of the afternoon is a serene mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) excursion. Gliding silently through the flooded channels, you'll begin to appreciate the tranquility and intricate beauty of the Delta's waterways.
Today is dedicated to the ultimate Delta experience: exploring the islands on foot. Your private guide will lead you on a walk across Chief's Island or one of the smaller, nearby islands. Without the noise of a vehicle, you will gain a profound connection to the wilderness, tracking and observing wildlife like giraffe, zebra, and various antelopes. The pace is slow and immersive, allowing you to focus on the smaller details of the ecosystem. Both a morning and afternoon walk are planned, punctuated by a relaxing midday rest at the camp.
You have the flexibility to design your day with your private guide. Options include a full-day mokoro excursion deep into the channels, with a picnic lunch enjoyed on a remote palm island, or perhaps visiting a local village to learn about the unique culture of the riverine people. Alternatively, you can spend the day quietly observing the rich birdlife from the camp's viewing decks and simply soaking in the hushed, watery landscape of the Okavango Delta.
Your journey continues with a light aircraft transfer from the Delta to the stark, stunning landscapes of the Central Kalahari and Deception Valley Lodge. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed to this luxurious lodge, which serves as your gateway to the massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve. After lunch and some time to settle in, you will embark on a late afternoon game drive across the vast reserve, adapting to the change from water-based to land-based safari.
Today is filled with the quintessential Kalahari experience. The morning begins with the highlight of foraging with the San Bushmen. You will walk with them, learning about their profound knowledge of the desert, discovering how they hunt, find water, and utilize medicinal plants. In the late afternoon, you'll head out on a game drive specifically focused on tracking leopards and lions that thrive in this arid environment, using the expert knowledge of your trackers to find these elusive big cats.
Spend the morning on a comprehensive game drive, exploring different sections of the reserve and concentrating on Kalahari-specific wildlife, such as the majestic gemsbok, springbok, and cheetah. The Kalahari is also known for the dramatic predator-prey interactions that take place across its wide-open pans. Your final evening activity will be a night drive, offering the chance to spot nocturnal species like porcupine, aardvark, and brown hyena, followed by a final dinner where you can marvel at the famously clear and brilliant stars of the Kalahari night sky.
Enjoy one last hearty breakfast at Deception Valley Lodge, taking in the panoramic views of the Kalahari. You will then be transferred to the local airstrip for your final light aircraft flight back to Maun for your onward international connection, carrying with you memories of the Okavango, Savuti, and the Kalahari.
