After breakfast by the river at Zambezi National Park, enjoy sightings of Giant Kingfishers and Malachite Kingfishers. Half Day Birding Experience
We embark on an exciting early-morning adventure in search of the region's star bird, the Schalow’s Turaco, heading straight for a prime birding site just above Victoria Falls. Once we arrive, we disembark from our comfortable safari vehicle and enjoy a short walk to the edge of the mighty Zambezi River. As the sun rises, casting a golden glow over the landscape, you'll feel the cool spray of the Falls and be treated to views of the elusive coppery-tailed Coucal.
Along the iconic Zambezi Drive, we encounter a variety of fascinating bird species, including the Collared Palm Thrush, Ashy Flycatcher, and the striking Trumpeter Hornbill, along with the mysterious, dusk-hunting Bat Hawk. Be sure to have your binoculars ready—if you're lucky, you may even spot the rare African Finfoot drifting down the river.
After exploring the rich birdlife along the Zambezi Drive, we make our way to Zambezi National Park, where we'll spend the remainder of the morning. Here, a delicious “Guide’s Breakfast” awaits, served right by the river. As you sip your tea or coffee, keep an eye out for the majestic Giant Kingfisher perched low in the trees, or the tiny yet vibrant Malachite Kingfisher along the riverbank.
With breakfast behind us, it’s time to chase the high flyers! Tawny Eagles, Western Banded Snake Eagles, Martial Eagles, and various vulture species circle the skies in search of prey. The melodious calls of the Bearded Scrub Robin and White-Browed Scrub Robin provide the perfect soundtrack as we wrap up this unforgettable 5-hour birding journey.
