Day one: Arrival in Maun & Transfer to Deception Valley Lodge

Upon arrival at Maun, you will be greeted by a representative from Delta Air, who will assist you with your air transfer to Deception Valley Lodge. Located within a 15,000-hectare private reserve bordering the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the lodge offers an authentic, luxurious safari experience. Each of the 8 spacious suites features a bedroom, a separate lounge, an en-suite Victorian bath, and an outdoor shower. Enjoy stunning views over the waterhole from the lodge, along with a swimming pool, several dining areas, and even satellite internet to stay connected in the wilderness.

After settling in, enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge before settling in for the night, ready to explore the Kalahari the next day.

Day Two: Tracking with the San Bushmen & Game Drives

Begin your day with a fascinating Bushman (San) experience led by local guides, many of whom have grown up in the Kalahari. Learn the ancient survival skills of the San people, including how they track and find food in the harsh desert environment, identifying edible plants, herbs, and medicinal plants.

Afterward, head out on a game drive through the vast Kalahari terrain. Track predators like lions and leopards in the Kalahari sand, where your guide will follow off-road tracks to find these elusive creatures. The private reserve allows for night drives, giving you an opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife, adding an exciting dimension to your safari.

Return to the lodge for a refreshing dinner and relax under the stars.

Day Three: Transfer to Delta Camp & Mokoro Safari in the Okavango Delta

After breakfast, you'll fly by light aircraft to Delta Camp, located in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Settle into your accommodation, a true wilderness retreat surrounded by the beauty of the Delta. Enjoy lunch at the camp, then embark on an afternoon mokoro safari (traditional dugout canoe), gliding through the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta. Marvel at the lush scenery, spot a variety of birdlife, and watch for elephants, hippos, and other wildlife along the riverbanks.

As evening falls, return to camp for a delicious dinner under the stars, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.

Day Four: Morning Game Drive & Cultural Experience

Start your day with an exciting game drive to explore the Okavango Delta’s rich wildlife, including the chance to see predators, buffalo, and a wide variety of other species. Afterward, enjoy a guided walking safari on Chief’s Island, where you’ll be able to spot wildlife on foot and learn about the unique flora and fauna of the area from your expert guide.

In the afternoon, enjoy some leisure time to relax and take in the beauty of the Delta before a final evening of dinner and storytelling around the campfire.

Day Five: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Maun by light aircraft for your onward journey, taking with you incredible memories from your unique safari experience through the Kalahari and the Okavango Delta.
